Terms of Service
Last updated July 20, 2026
These Terms of Service are the agreement between you and Carburo Software for your use of Nebula, a calm bilingual read-along storybook app for parents and their young children. Please read them before creating an account.
The Nebula app is a reader and sells nothing. If you buy a subscription on this website, that purchase is governed by our Terms of Sale, which cover pricing, automatic renewal, cancellation, refunds, and your right of withdrawal.
Who we are
Nebula is operated by Carburo Software, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered in the Netherlands under Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 97123528, VAT number NL005250125B73.
Registered address: Carburo Software, Jan Krosstraat 182, 2571 DD Den Haag, The Netherlands.
You can reach us at any time at support@nebulastories.com. In these Terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Carburo Software, and "you" means the account holder.
What Nebula is
Nebula offers a small, curated library of illustrated read-along stories in the languages you choose. It is designed to be used together by a grown-up and a child, at an unhurried pace.
Nebula is a storybook app, not an educational assessment, medical, or developmental service. Nothing in it is professional advice about your child.
Who may use Nebula
You must be at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a contract to create a Nebula account. Accounts are for parents, guardians, and other responsible adults.
Children may use Nebula, but only with the supervision of the adult who holds the account. You are responsible for how your household uses the app and for supervising any child who reads with it.
Nebula is distributed in the Kids category of the app stores. That means we hold ourselves to stricter rules about advertising, tracking, and data collection, which are described in our Privacy Policy.
Your account
You agree to give accurate information when you register, to verify your email address, and to keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
Tell us promptly at support@nebulastories.com if you believe someone has used your account without your permission.
You may hold one account per person. Please do not share your login with people outside your household.
Your account and the library
A selection of Nebula stories is free for everyone, including people without an account. What else your account can open depends on the access attached to that account, which the app shows you at any time.
Nebula is currently in early access, and account holders have access to the full early-access library. That is temporary and we may end it. We will tell you before it changes, and a free selection of stories will always remain.
The library itself changes over time. We may add stories, and we may remove or replace them — for example if a licence ends or we want to improve a book. We do not promise that any particular story will stay available forever.
The Nebula app is a reader. It does not sell anything. If you hold a paid Nebula subscription, that purchase is governed by the separate terms you agreed to at the time you bought it, and those terms describe your billing, renewal, cancellation, and refund rights.
How you may use Nebula
Nebula is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use within your own family or household.
You agree not to:
- copy, download, record, redistribute, sell, rent, or publicly perform the stories, artwork, or narration
- use Nebula in a school, nursery, library, or other institutional setting without a separate agreement with us
- reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the underlying content or source code
- circumvent access restrictions, share account credentials, or use automated tools against our servers
- use Nebula in any way that is unlawful, or that interferes with other people’s use of it
Who owns the stories
The stories, illustrations, narration, text, software, name, and branding in Nebula are owned by Carburo Software or its licensors, and are protected by copyright and other laws.
We grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Nebula and read its stories within the app for as long as you keep to these Terms. Nothing is sold to you, and no other rights are granted.
Feedback
If you send us an idea, suggestion, or rating, we may use it to improve Nebula without any obligation to you and without owing you payment. We will not publish anything that identifies you or your child without asking you first.
Changes to Nebula
We are actively developing Nebula, so features may change, be added, or be withdrawn. If we make a change that significantly reduces what your account gives you, we will tell you.
We may suspend the service temporarily for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
Ending this agreement
You can stop using Nebula at any time, and you can delete your account from the app’s Settings screen. Deleting your account ends this agreement and removes your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering Nebula. Except where you have broken these Terms, we will give you reasonable notice, and anything you have already paid for is dealt with under the terms of that purchase.
What we do and do not promise
We will provide Nebula with reasonable care and skill, and the stories will match how we describe them.
Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, Nebula is provided "as is". We do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, free of errors, or compatible with every device. We do not promise any particular educational or developmental outcome.
Nothing in these Terms removes the legal rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by contract.
Our liability
We do not limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profit, and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period or fifty euros.
This limit reflects that Nebula is a low-cost consumer storybook app, and it does not affect your mandatory consumer rights.
Privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement. In short: we collect very little, we do not advertise to you, and we do not track you.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as Nebula develops. If a change is material — for example, introducing charges or changing your rights — we will let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect, and where the law requires it we will ask you to accept the new Terms.
The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Continuing to use Nebula after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer resident in another country, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and this choice of law does not take those away.
Disputes may be brought before the competent courts of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.
We would much rather sort things out directly. Please write to support@nebulastories.com first — we read every message.
If you downloaded Nebula from Apple
This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Nebula or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Nebula.
If Nebula fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund any purchase price paid for the app; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim relating to Nebula, including product liability, legal compliance, and intellectual property claims.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
